4D v13's main new features

4D v13 is totally focused on openness, while maintaining maximum compatibility with existing databases:

Open to other databases and the Internet thanks to a totally rewritten HTTP server, a completely new HTTP client, as well as a 64-bit ODBC driver,
Open to other development tools with the new source toolkit, a complete set of commands (Design Object Access theme) providing read/write access to all the methods in your database, which you can use, for instance, to export and manage all of your code in the form of standard text files,
Open to new generation interfaces using the new Direct2D graphics engine and XPS print preview (under Windows), a choice of rendering engines for Web areas, numerous new list box options and the possibility of indexing metadata for picture fields,
Finally, 4D v13 also provides many new features intended to optimize and enhance the development of your 4D applications: external storage of voluminous data, as well as a new set of supplementary commands in the Object Properties theme that you can use to access form objects by programming.
